My name is Tyrone Turner and I’m the author of THE WHOLE 9 YARDS: Breaking Tackles While Building Your Brand.
I’ve been working in Corporate America for 25+ years (mostly in the legal field). During that time I’ve been a paralegal, a business developer, and an operations manager. I’ve also been a high school teacher in the NYC public school system.
What made me write this book is that I have grown sick and tired of all of the hokey theoretical nonsense out there about what it takes to become successful on the job or with one’s business. This book is full of strategies that I’ve used successfully over the years to grow my network, my book of business, and therefore, of course, my bank account.
What I mean by nonsense is all of the motivational, new age stuff talking about visualization and the law of attraction being the primary causes of one’s success or failure.
The truth is that you have to get off of your ass and work for any success that you may achieve.
There is nothing really all that special about me, but I was fortunate enough to get opportunities that most never get and to have great mentors who prepared me well.
This book will take you from A to Z on what it takes to grow your influence at work as an intrapreneur or to move more of your product or service as an entrepreneur.
By the way, what the heck is an intrapreneur?
According to Dictionary.com, an intrapreneur is an employee of a large corporation who is given freedom and financial support to create new products, services, systems, etc., and does not have to follow the corporation’s usual routines or protocols.
Being an intrapreneur is a great way to create a perception of value of having you as an employee and to make you virtually indispensable.
Of course I am biased, but this book is a true gem – totally full of real world how-to information. It is written in a style that probably will not win any “best written” awards, but I’m confident that you’ll find the best real world information for the intended audience.

I have worked in Corporate America for more than 25 years. I have met some good, outgoing people along the way. I have also met some real jerks along the way too. I am not a lawyer, but one thing that you should know off the bat is that the “At Will Employment Doctrine” is bull…! We’re fed that nonsense so that employers can protect themselves from governmental investigations and civil lawsuits. Bad employers tend to hide behind the At Will employment lie to cover-up their unfair and at times illegal practices like retaliating against you for reporting harassment or an unsafe work environment. I have resources listed like Adam Sklover’s Sklover Working Wisdom blog and the Workplace Bullying Institute website that you can refer to for more information on at will employment and how to protect yourself against it and other shenanigans.
